Three brand new Regency Romance novellas by Julie Daines, Caroline Warfield, and Jaima Fixsen
TRIAL OF THE HEART by Julie Daines
Marianne Wood has been summoned to Bath to testify against the man who killed her family. She dreads coming face to face with the monster of her nightmares, but finds surprising comfort under the care of a charming barrister, Harby Northam. Despite his kindly attentions, Mr. Northam is a shrewd and discerning man of law with an awful secret. Marianne is put to the test as she deals with the evil of her past and her growing affection for the mysterious Mr. Northam.
LORD EDMUND’S DILEMMA by Caroline Warfield
Lucy Ashcroft doesn’t share her stepmother’s belief that she might find a husband during her sojourn in Bath, but she does enjoy a respite from a household full of half-siblings and a younger sister preparing for her London Season, something Lucy can’t even dream about. In Bath, she enjoys the company of the elderly ladies in her aunt’s circle, and happy to be out from under her stepmother’s watchful and speculating eye. But when Lucy meets Lord Edmund Parker, all of her expectations for a quiet, unassuming holiday suddenly change.
THE ART OF KISSING IN THE PARK by Jaima Fixsen
Caroline Trenholme is not pleased with Bath, the fussy, antiquated resort of the shabby-genteel. She ought to be in London, finding a man—not here, coddling her irrational grandmother. In the park, she crosses paths (literally—this is Bath, after all) with a nameless, mannerless rogue, intent on stealing a kiss. As if his proposition weren’t insult enough, even her dog seems to like the man better. It's impossible! Especially once she suspects she might like him too…

A Holiday in Bath Timeless Regency Collection Book 7 edition by Julie Daines Caroline Warfield Jaima Fixsen Romance eBooks
The novellas in this collection didn't stack up to the previous books. The first one had a strange plot that made it hard to get into and there was almost no romance involved, just a rushed marriage proposal at the end. The second story was better, but still lacked depth to the characters and the love story was mostly unsatisfying. The last one was the best of the three, with characters that actually had some personality. It was the only story in the book that I actually cared if the main characters ended up together or not. But that being said, it still didn't compare to the earliest volumes in the series, where all three novellas had great character development and great love stories. I'm looking forward to the next book because the authors are some of my favorites, but I probably wouldn't buy another collection featuring these authors again.Product details

A Holiday in Bath Timeless Regency Collection Book 7 edition by Julie Daines Caroline Warfield Jaima Fixsen Romance eBooks Reviews
What a great collection of stories. All were number one reads. Strong stories, believable scenarios, and realistic characters. I look forward to the next issue.
I very much enjoyed these three novellas, especially the last one. To all of Jaima Fixsen's fans - you'll have the pleasure of finding characters from the Fairchild trilogy in her story. Highly recommended.
I gave this set four stars because the writing was good. However, the first was my favorite, the rest bordered on "too racy." I think I'll avoid those authors.
I am a bargain hunter when it comes to romances. Since I read so many, pinch-penny me doesn't like putting out the big bucks (that would be over four dollars or so) for each individual read. This collection of stories is right on the cusp of making me regret having put out five dollars for it, but the Jaima Fixsen story keeps me from that regret. The first story, by an author unfamiliar to me, disappointed me, not so much because of its plot but because of the development of plot and characters. The second story also disappointed me because I am familiar with Warfield and expected something a bit better from her.
Story #1. Heroine comes to Bath to testify against the man who had murdered her family and had threatened to kill her to keep her silent. Hero is the prosecuting barrister. He gives the h all his help and support during this trying time. The H also has a secret, one which could have been compelling. However, the story was developed poorly, IMO, and the romance was flat and lacking any chemistry.
Story #2. Could two more perfect people ever find romance together? I think not, although the H's perfection caused some imperfect behavior near the end of the story when he kept the h in the dark about his actions and intentions. He's the younger son of a marquess who's expected to go into the clergy but secretly wants to be a doctor. She's the impecunious daughter of a baronet, a self-sacrificing young woman who is spending a "holiday" in Bath taking care of a group of old ladies in straitened condition, some in ill health. He's in Bath with his mother, meets the heroine, and the story begins. It's a bit dull, IMO.
Story #3. This story by Fixsen saved the collection for me. Although it is not perfect, it has more complexity of plot and characters than the other two. The heroine is a rich woman of the peerage. She and her politician brother live in London where she was to have married another politician. Her fiance dies in a silly accident and she goes to Bath with her crusty grandmother. There she meets the H in a park and the incident inspiring the story's title occurs. The H, BTW, is the brother of the heroine of Fixsen's COURTING SCANDAL. Brother and sister are emigres from France to England because of the Revolution. Lacking funds, the sister had become an actress and had financed her brother's career as a surgeon. He's in Bath at the time of the story to recover from an illness.
The rich heroine of the third story is a tad hard to like at times, shows inconsistency in her behavior toward the H, and has social strata prejudices, but the H is lovely, the story itself is well developed, and the relationship between the H and h is believable and less shallow than in the first two stories. I also enjoyed the third story's connection to Fixsen's Fairchild trilogy.
I'm a fan of Jaima Fixsen's writing and only just discovered the other two authors with this book. I enjoyed all three stories and looked forward to those stolen moments when I could get lost in each. Normally I don't like short stories because they end too soon, but these novellas were long enough to satisfy my desire to live in their world for a bit. Definitely worth the purchase
Usually I have a favorite that stands out from the rest of the stories. I found that I enjoyed each of these equally. I will be reading these again and looking for additional stories by each of the authors. I didn't want each of the stories to end. The characters were believable in their interactions with one another and conversations natural. Nothing was over the top unbelievable and each author kept me interested and involved. Thank you for a great read.
